Write Til You Drop

Filed under: Uncategorized — studentstuff @ 4:43 pm

The purpose of this blog is to give you, the students, the chance to share your writings with each other, and presumably the world.  Blogging has become so popular lately that it seems an inevitable choice of the writing classroom.  In fact, blogging can make writing fun.

In order to make the best use of this StudentStuff blog, let’s establish some guidelines early on.

  • While I do not believe in nor support censorship, I likewise do not tolerate overt rudeness.  This means that any personal rants postings on this blog will be deleted.
  • While you do not have to agree with eveyrthing that’s so, be polite. Good manners never go out of style.
  • Since this blog is intended for a diverse audience, please remember to use good taste in your choice of words and topics.
  • Never post a blog before its time.  In our haste to see our own words magically appear on screen, we may rush forward and post writings that have not been carefully proofread.  Proofread everything–more than once.
  • Recognize that the primary purpose of this blog is to learn how to become a better writer. This means that most of your postings will be the result of a particular assignment, so a general diary of what I did today just won’t cut it.
  • Have fun!

  1. Looking past my shadowy reflection in the sullied window I noticed the rain was finally clearing. The gloomy clouds were rolling back over the mountains that seemed so far away and hiding the sun. Most of the plants are still lifeless and bare except for the towering shrub directly below the second story window. Raindrops decorated the waxy leaves and made them look like emerald jewels. Not so lovely were the bare oak trees getting blown and twisted by the wind. Dead leaves were still scattering across the campus like little brown ghosts, evidence that the trees were merely sleeping. It was time to end my daydreaming and go back to class.

  2. This first day of spring was cool and crisp; a few gray and dreary clouds lingered from the day before. They left behind a fresh skiff of snow on the mountain sides. The wind is brisk and nippy but it brings the smell of a new begging. Even the birds can’t stay away from these snow peaked mountains this time of year, you can tell by the way they sing and welcome all upcoming creations. Signs of new life are starting to blossom everywhere, they bring happiness and hope when all seems to have faded so far away nobody or nothing could every bring it back.
